The magic then begins as it goes through a second maturation in our Reserve Aging process in casks formerly housing Merlot and Chardonnay. The Musician is a Bourbon made by Still Austin Whiskey Co from a mash of 100% Texas-grown corn, rye, and malted barley. The whiskey was matured as is typical using heavily charred virgin oak casks. What sets it apart is the use of a slow water reduction technique used during maturation, where each month a small amount of water is added to the aging whiskey in casks. This is meant to soften the whiskey extract more mature notes such as vanilla and caramel from the oak. 49.2%.
